Review: Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer

When beauty’s on a budget for a university student, it’s limited to buying 1 beauty item (be it skincare/makeup) per month.

I am like the oiliest, greasiest person I’ve ever seen aaaaand am still in search of my Holy Grail primer of a lifetime. So for May, I’ve decided give a Korean sebum-control primer a try: Innisfree No Sebum Blur Primer a try in high hopes that it could be the one.

Innisfree: No Sebum Blur Primer 25ml

If you haven’t known already, Innisfree is one of the most loved skincare + makeup line in Korea. And I, myself, absolutely love Innisfree and its Jeju concept! ❤

I have seen some Youtube reviews on Innisfree‘s No Sebum Blur Primer and even comparing it to Benefit‘s Porefessional Face Primer.

Here is my quick review on the product:

Innisfree’s No Sebum Blur Primer glides very easily on my face. The primer has a beige tint so I was kinda afraid it might leave a weird, white overcast but it didn’t! It blurred out some minor blemishes but wouldn’t even knew it has a blurring effect if not acclaimed. The after-application texture was soooo smooth though – a matte, no, sort of a satin feel to me, personally.

It has a very subtle mint fragrance to it, which reminds me of my oldOrigins Frothy Face Wash in mint. (Die hard fan of anything MINT here!)

After foundation: I was quite disappointed when I noticed my foundation flaking on my forehead. The other areas of my face flakes a tiny bit…maybe because it’s a matte primer or I didn’t apply enough primer on those flaky areas? Both the Innisfree primer and my foundation are silicon-based though. Should normally work, hmm.

BUT, the flakes seemed to go away after a few minutes, leaving my foundation almost flawless throughout the day.

The sebum control part; I’d say the effect lasted for around 3 hours given the humidity here (28°C here!). Definitely needs touching up in the T-zone with a oil blotting paper or powder during the day. With my previous Olay primer, it only tends to last about an hour or so which was horrible I know.

Pros:

  • Smooth application
  • Slight blur effect
  • Smooth, satin-y matte finish
  • Feels very lightweight on the face after application
  • Controls oil for about 3 hours (in a 28°C area)
  • Holds the foundation long
  • A good product for the price!

Cons:

  • Makes foundation flaky upon application (which later solves itself)
  • Wish it could control sebum longer

Final Thoughts:

So yeah, I’d rather have a flaky face for only 15 minutes after application than the oily patches throughout the day.

Would I buy again?

This one’s definitely on my HG primer nominees! Might buy again but lemme try out some more! 😉

Makeup Wishlist for April

If I were to look back to the me from 5 months ago, there I was – caring less about makeup; liquid lipsticks, a basic foundation and a powder pact are all I knew.

Now fast forward to this point, I’m totally and undeniably addicted to…makeup! Why? Well, blame Youtube and my previous crush who shamed on my weight and for me not wearing enough makeup. Why thank you monsieur, should I say, you freaking superficial bastard.

Ahem, excuse me. I tend to get a bit emotional when it comes to this bloke.

Ok enough of that and let’s cut to the chase. I pretty much just started stepping into the makeup meadow so I own very few cosmetics in my bag – a pencil liner, some drugstore liquid lipsticks and stains, a liquid foundation (which I’ve stopped using after my acne breakout last year) and a compact powder.

So, I definitely need more products on my shelf and here are my few picks and wishlist for the month:

  1. Tarteist™ PRO Glow to Go Highlight & Contour Palette
Image Ref: tartecosmetics.com

I was self-debating whether to get this mini palette with 3 colors or the full size one with six. After a few Youtube reviews and since I’m asking my dadda on whim to get me this (and he nodded me a yes!), I decided to go with this one!

My very first time ordering and using Tarte…very excited to try them out for myself!

2. Real Techniques – Sculpting Brush & Blush Brush

Image Ref: thecelution.ca

All my favourite youtubers have at least one Real Techniques brush and everyone’s holding a thumbs up for its 100% synthetic, cruelty-free, soft and fluffy brushes so I immediately knew that I also have to get at least one in my collection!

Already ordered the sculpting brush from a local online shopping since it’s on sales! For the blush brush, I might have to postpone buying it next month or…probably when another sale strikes lol!

3. Morphe 35O – 35 Color Nature Glow Palette

I picked this palette before watching any Youtube hypes. I’ve been searching for the perfect palette with coral tones and a reasonable price (of course) while I stumbled upon this 35 color palette for a super affordable price!

I ain’t waiting, checked out the cart! xD

4. I Heart Makeup – Unicorns Heart highlighter

A unicorn highlighter? At only a price lower than $10? DEFINITELY A STEAL!

So that’s pretty much my makeup ticklist for the summer. In addition to these, I need some beauty blender and some more eyeshadow brushes as well…well, I’ll save that for later. Ain’t no student got that much of money to splurge (self soothing lol)
